New Frequencies Cover

When KMA Sullivan, the publisher of YesYes Books, first approached me to design the cover for Frequencies: A Chapbook and Music Anthology, I was very excited because it involved many artists whose work I'd been enjoying for years, as well as new and intriguing ones with whom I'd yet to become acquainted.

Frequencies is an anthology, as the titles indicates, of three chapbooks by Bob Hicok, Molly Gaudry, and Philip B. Williams, accompanied by three music downloads from three bands (three tracks apiece). I had already been reading Bob Hicok's poems since my early twenties, and his work has remained an important and ongoing influence on my own poetry. Molly Gaudry's We Take Me Apart had made a big splash in indie circles some years prior, and I--being among those who had taken note of her achievement--invited her to submit work for the third issue of Trnsfr. Philip B. Williams' work was relatively new to me. I had read a few things here and there online, and knew he was a colleague of KMA. His work here made for an ample and impressive introduction.

The three musical acts included are Sharon Van Etten, Here We Go Magic, and Outlands. I had been a fan of Sharon Van Etten since seeing her perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, but I was unfamiliar with Here We Go Magic and Outlands.
