The Ingredients Of My Cure
By Charles Bane, Jr.
The ingredients of my cure,
my love, were in yourself.
When my temperature spiked
I saw a chestnut horse nodding
by my bed; what patience from you
curried and smoothed that blaze.
You might have ridden ( I was asleep);
the rains in the hills and hoof sounds
brought me peace. Were you the whole
night galloping him away? My love,
return, the fever is broken in your arms.
