Curbside Splendor Bookstand at the Logan Square Farmer's Market
We started Curbsise Splendor with an idea to publish a book, Sophomoric Philosophy. During the process we fell in love with publishing, and so we started publishing short stories and poems online and in print. We also started to collborate with Two With Water to put on a reading series at Beauty Bar Chicago, which has been a ton of fun. And during all this we met people that have been writing and publishing in Chicago for some time and discovered that a vibrant indie literary community exists here. It seemed natural that our next step was to help promote this community somehow. So we approached the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce with an idea to sell mags and books by local presses and authors at the Logan Sqaure Farmer's Market, and they agreed.
Therefore we present the Curbside Splendor Bookstand at the Logan Square Farmer's Market starting Sunday February 6, 2011, from 10am to 2pm. The indoor market is at the lobby of the Congress Theater (2135 N. Milwaukee Ave.), and the outdoor market is right by the intersection of Logan Blvd, Kedzie Ave., & Milwuakee Ave. It will be monthly at first, and then on a bi-weekly or weekly basis. We'll see. Stop by, pick up a book or a mag, eat good, be happy.
We will sell work by the following local presses / authors. Follow the links to learn more about them.
and much, much more to come...
